Sotheby’s has recreated the interior of Gianni Versace’s opulent Lake Como villa at its Bond Street residence ahead of its sale of the late designer’s extensive neo-classical collection of artwork and furnishings. Highlights from the Villa Fontanelle - which was sold last year - include 19th-century stucco casts of Antonio Canova’s Pair Of Pugilists estimated to be worth up to £40,000, a pair of cherry-wood bookcases by Karl Roos worth £120,000 and a previously unseen painting by 18th-century artist Johann Zoffany. The lots, numbering 550 in total, are expected to fetch in excess of £2m when they go under the hammer on 18 March.

This week the fashion world lost a very important brand. Number (N)ine launched by Takahiro Miyashita 12 years ago is closing. I personally have found great inspiration to his brand especially his Axel Rose collection. He closed on a high note, with his last Fall 09 Collection titled “A Closed Feeling” inspired by his motel room while staying in Alaska. He was and is a true visionary and will be missed.

Yves Saint Laurent’s art collection including masterpieces by Picasso and Matisse went for a record of 261 Million dollars. The collection was of an extraordinary quality and quantity and buyers came from all over the world. Much of the profits and proceeds will go to AIDS/HIV research. Yves Saint Laurent was a legendary designer and icon whose work will be seen for generations. This auction celebrated and honored the compulsive energy of St. Laurent.

Contemporary art has been a exploding arena for a number of years. Christoper Wool recently had one of his famous stencil paintings go to auction at Christie’s auction house. Final sale price $322,399. He’s normally represented by the world famous Gagosian Gallery. So much for a recession.
Its a great piece and really represents a part of our brand in its “go fuck yourself” spirit.

Houseboating is a great leisure to do on a calm body of water. A different feel than the typical yacht.
And if your going to do it, you might as well do it in style.

It seems there’s a new celebrity fashion line coming out every week. But every once in a while a celebrity does things right. Kanye West is an international taste maker, his new shoe collaboration with Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton, is very promising.
